Primary service area
Silicon Valley & South Santa Clara County
Our home territory, and the one where field work is simplest to schedule. Facilities here tend to carry dense, heavily loaded distribution: semiconductor and research campuses with extensive secondary-selective and double-ended substations, data centers with parallel UPS and generator sources, hospitals under HCAI review, and university buildings added over decades onto medium-voltage campus loops. Motor and generator contribution to fault duty is often the deciding factor in whether existing gear remains adequately rated.

Because we are based in Santa Clara, most sites in this region are a short drive away. Field surveys, walkdowns, and label installation can usually be scheduled without travel charges or overnight stays, and we can return for a brief follow-up visit when nameplate data turns out to be missing.
Bay Area
San Francisco & the Peninsula
Dense, vertical, and usually occupied around the clock. High-rise properties here distribute power through stacked electrical closets and bus risers, downtown San Francisco includes secondary network and spot network services that need careful treatment in the fault-current model, and South San Francisco biotech carries clean-room and process loads that cannot simply be shut down for a walkdown. Legacy documentation is frequently incomplete after decades of tenant improvements.
- Counties
- San Francisco, San Mateo
- Serving utilities
- PG&E owns and operates distribution throughout. Many City and County of San Francisco facilities take retail service from Hetch Hetchy Power (SFPUC).

We plan field work around occupied floors, restricted electrical spaces, badge and escort requirements, and narrow shutdown windows. Where as-builts have drifted from field conditions, we document the discrepancies and state the assumptions in the report rather than quietly modeling around them.
Bay Area
East Bay & Alameda County
A wide mix of building ages and system types. University and institutional campuses here commonly run their own medium-voltage loops with owner-maintained switchgear, while port, logistics, and industrial sites along the shoreline carry large motor loads. Water and wastewater facilities add their own pattern of pump loads and standby generation. Equipment on older campuses often predates current fault-current levels, so rating verification is frequently the first finding.
- Counties
- Alameda, western Contra Costa
- Serving utilities
- PG&E across most of the county. The City of Alameda is served by Alameda Municipal Power.
- Typical facilities
- Hospitals, university and institutional campuses, laboratories, port and logistics, industrial, water and wastewater, government buildings
Communities served

Scope on campus projects usually includes field data collection, model development, equipment-duty evaluation against interrupting and withstand ratings, time-current curves, recommended protective device settings, updated one-lines, and label installation. Customer-owned medium-voltage equipment is modeled along with the utility service rather than treated as a boundary.
East Bay
Tri-Valley & Contra Costa County
Two distinct patterns in one region. The Tri-Valley side is dominated by newer office, laboratory, and healthcare campuses where coordination is driven by selective-coordination requirements on emergency and standby branches. The northern Contra Costa shoreline is heavy industrial and process, where an unplanned trip is far more expensive than the study itself, and where protective settings have to balance equipment protection against nuisance operation.
- Counties
- Contra Costa, eastern Alameda
- Serving utilities
- PG&E throughout the region.
- Typical facilities
- Hospitals, laboratories, industrial and process plants, logistics and distribution, municipal buildings, water and wastewater

For operating plants we can phase the work so modeling and analysis proceed from drawings and nameplate data first, with field verification and label installation grouped into the shortest practical outage window. Settings changes are documented so maintenance staff can implement and verify them.
Northern California
North Bay, Napa & Sonoma
Wildfire risk shapes electrical planning across this region more than anywhere else we work. Facilities here have added standby generation, transfer schemes, and in some cases microgrid capability in response to Public Safety Power Shutoff events, and each of those alternate sources changes available fault current and protective device coordination depending on how the system is operating. Studies need to address the realistic operating configurations, not just the normal one.
- Counties
- Marin, Sonoma, Napa, Solano
- Serving utilities
- PG&E across most of the region. Healdsburg is served by its own municipal electric utility.
- Typical facilities
- Hospitals, wineries and food processing, hospitality, municipal and institutional buildings, light industrial
Communities served

Where a facility can operate on generator or on an alternate source, we evaluate incident energy under those configurations as well, since the lower fault current available from a generator can lengthen clearing times and raise incident energy rather than lower it. Winery and food-processing schedules are planned around crush and production season.
Capital region
Sacramento & Surrounding Communities
The utility picture here is different from the Bay Area, and it affects how a study starts. Sacramento County is largely served by SMUD rather than PG&E, Roseville runs its own municipal utility, and the surrounding counties are a patchwork. Each utility has its own process and format for releasing available fault current and X/R data, so the data request is worth starting early. Public-sector work in this region also tends to carry documentation and records requirements beyond the study itself.
- Counties
- Sacramento, Yolo, Placer, Solano
- Serving utilities
- SMUD serves most of Sacramento County. Roseville is served by Roseville Electric. PG&E serves much of the surrounding area, including Davis, Woodland, and Dixon.
- Typical facilities
- State and local government buildings, hospitals, universities, justice and public safety facilities, commercial and industrial
Communities served

For multi-building or campus-wide studies in this region we group field visits into consolidated trips, which keeps data collection and label installation efficient and holds travel costs down. Multi-site portfolios can be scoped as a single engagement with a shared model and consistent labeling.
Central coast
Santa Cruz, Monterey Bay & Nearby Communities
Agriculture and food processing dominate the industrial base here, which makes scheduling as much of an engineering constraint as the electrical system. Cooling, packing, and processing facilities run hard through harvest and cannot take an outage during it, and refrigeration loads mean significant motor contribution to fault duty. Coastal and agricultural environments are also hard on equipment, so field verification regularly turns up corrosion and condition issues worth reporting alongside the calculated results.
- Counties
- Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito
- Serving utilities
- PG&E across the region.
- Typical facilities
- Hospitals, universities, agriculture and food processing, cold storage, hospitality, municipal buildings, water and wastewater

Field work is planned around production and harvest calendars, with surveys and label installation scheduled into maintenance windows or the off-season. Where refrigeration and process motors represent a meaningful share of fault contribution, that contribution is modeled explicitly rather than estimated.
Northern Central Valley
Northern San Joaquin Valley
Continuous-process manufacturing, food processing, cold storage, and large distribution centers define this region, and most of them run close to around the clock. That makes outage windows short and infrequent, and it raises the cost of a nuisance trip, so coordination work here is usually about protecting equipment without sacrificing selectivity on feeders that serve production. Irrigation-district utilities serve a significant share of Stanislaus County, which changes where the service data comes from.
- Counties
- San Joaquin, Stanislaus, Merced
- Serving utilities
- PG&E across much of the region. Modesto Irrigation District and Turlock Irrigation District serve large parts of Stanislaus County, and Lodi is served by Lodi Electric Utility.

For plants that cannot take an extended outage, we build the model from drawings, nameplate photographs, and existing settings first, then use a single coordinated site visit for verification and label installation. Where equipment is found to be overstressed, we identify the options, including current-limiting devices and reconfiguration, before recommending replacement.
